Celebrated chefs gathered in Exeter to launch the latest edition of a highly-respected guide to the culinary delights of the South West.
The 22nd Trencherman’s Guide lists 166 high-quality restaurants and gastro pubs from Oxfordshire to Cornwall, adding 44 since last year.
The 2014 edition features 49 eateries in Devon and 43 in Cornwall, this year adding an online and downloadable version, allowing travellers to find a nearby entry whilst on the move.
Inclusion in the exclusive 132-page guide is by invitation only and members have to meet strict criteria agreed by the editorial board of chefs, chaired by two-Michelin-starred Michael Caines, whose ABode restaurant overlooking the city’s Cathedral Green, hosted the launch.
Paul Ainsworth, of Paul Ainsworth at Number 6, Padstow, said “nothing beats” the guide, which contains “everything that’s brilliant about the South West” .
