Originating from Australia, Chef Thompson helms Nahm at the Metropolitan Hotel in Bangkok, which was voted 32nd in the World’s Best Restaurants awards this year – the top-ranked Thai restaurant in the prestigious accolades.
He was applauded for “the world’s finest authentic Thai cooking” with obscure but big-flavour recipes revived from century-old Thai cookbooks.
Before opening Nahm in Bangkok in 2010, he made his name at his flagship Nahm in London’s Halkin Hotel, the first Thai restaurant in the world to earn a Michelin Star. Chef Thompson’s awards have also extended to “Professional of the Year” in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide and “London Chef of the Year” at the Carlton Evening Standard Food Awards.
All profits from the charity dinner will be donated to the Soi Dog Foundation (www.soidog.org), a charity dedicated to helping homeless, neglected and abused dogs and cats in Thailand.
It aims to set an example in Asia on how to humanely reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats through spaying and neutering, and improve the lives and living conditions of stray dogs and feral cats.
“With particular world attention currently being focused on the illegal dog meat trade within South East Asia, it is an important time to help raise much need funds for this organisation to help fight this trade” explains Paresa General Manager Scot Toon.
Michelin Star Chef Dinner is at Paresa’s celebrated Diavolo restaurant, renowned for its calendar of gourmet events and one of Phuket’s finest wine cellars with a spectacular 270 degree ocean views overlooking the Andaman Sea.
Amid lush tropical forests and gardens at its stunning cliff top location, Paresa is named after the Thai for ‘Heaven of Heavens’. The luxury retreat collected two prestigious accolades in the inaugural Thailand Boutique Awards 2010.
Tickets to the gastronomic fundraiser at the exclusive resort in Kamala are priced at B2,800, which includes a night of culinary excitement and wine.
The Michelin star Chef will bring a traditional Thai dinner experience and prepared with only the freshest local ingredients. To make reservations for the charity dinner, please email fbd@paresaresorts.com
